Tonsil stones, really?

I would sometimes get an irritating, persistent sore throat. Then I discovered what looked like firm tofu chunks coming out of my tonsils. My crypts must be deep because I have to squeeze the stones out. The odor is sooo foul. I know this sounds disgusting, but I was really confused by what it could be. I thought at first it was rotten food trapped in my tonsil. Now that it has often repeated itself I came looking for answers. Thank you for all the great suggestions.
