I'm in the same boat with tonsil stones and bad breath
by: J

I'm only 22, but ever since I was little, my throat ALWAYS hurt. My parents wouldn't take me to the doctor most of the time, so I learned to live with it. But as time has gone on, my sore throats are coming, it seems, almost every stinking month, and I now have these horrible tonsil stones. I've had them for about 3 1/2 years now, and I'm so fed up with it. I really just want my tonsils cut out. I'm so sick of all this pain and the HORRIBLE bad breath. So if you find out any info please post. I'm ready to be done with it all!

But would having my tonsils removed help with bad breath?
by: Anonymous

I am in the same boat as you. I have good oral hygiene habits, but I still have bad breath. There's also a foul taste in my mouth. But I've heard that they can just scrape your tonsils now, and not cut them out. This means they can grow back. And why does the outside of my tonsils smell, even if I can't squeeze out any more white stones? Would having my tonsils removed help with this problem?

Answer: While having your tonsils removed would be a permanent solution, the procedure carries significant risk. If you can find someone who performs the procedure, the scraping would be a better way to go. The procedure is called laser cryptolosis. It's not really a scraping, though. In this procedure, tonsil stones are removed from the tonsil crypts. Then a laser is used to seal the crypts. This gives the tonsil a smoother service, and tonsil stones have no pocket in which to form.

It Just May Be Time, CO...
by: Gary

Thanks for sharing your story, CO. I don't envy your situation one little bit. In spite of the risks, it just might be time to get rid of those tonsils. Obviously, there are risks involved, just as there would be with any surgery. Find a good ENT, one who's willing to spend all the time you need listening to you and discussing the risks. You may even want to get a second opinion.

It's possible to control the tonsil stones and bad breath using TheraBreath products, but it's not a quick fix. Even if you get the tonsil stones under control, however, you'll still have the sore throats to deal with.

In my opinion (keeping in mind that I am NOT a medical professional), you should look into the possibility of having your tonsils removed.

Thanks again for posting, CO!

Please keep us posted on what you decide to do as well as how it turns out.

Thank you one and all for helping it become the success it is today.

And a big thank you, as well, to the "SBI!" software that made it possible.
