Lean On Me
by: misty

HI! Just call me Misty.

I'm from the Philippines but I hope to be a friend to you since I know we have the same condition and the same painful experiences.

I'd like to compliment you for still doing great with your life considering that you're an international graduate student. That's what I'm doing. Live life despite the ridicules-smile, laugh, make friends, talk to anybody I?d want to, seek personal improvements, and love my family and friends.

I hope you can e-mail me at hannahelishaespino@yahoo.com

God bless you.

Slow Down, lena47!
by: Gary

Dear lena47,

I can help you find the information you're looking for, but I think it's too soon to be thinking about having your tonsils removed. Even though it's a fairly common procedure, a tonsillectomy for an adult still carries a fair amount of risk.

There are several things you should do before seriously considering surgery. The first is to try treating this problem yourself. Self-treatment is inexpensive and practically risk-free.

Get a box of Q-tips. Make sure you get the Q-tip brand so that you know you have a good cushion on the end of the Q-tip. Other brands may not be as well padded, allowing scratching and/or tearing of the tonsil.

Use a Q-tip to press against any part of the tonsil where you think there might be a tonsil stone. Continue to do so until you work the stone out of the tonsil pocket.

While you're getting the stone out, it will taste terrible and smell horrible, but it's definitely better to have it out than to leave it in.

While you're learning how to remove the stones, you'll want to take steps to prevent future stones from forming while eliminating bad breath.

For this, I recommend the TheraBreath line of products. Most people who suffer from tonsil stones and bad breath can get away with using just the standard TheraBreath toothpaste and oral rinse. However, your problem sounds severe enough that you should consider using their AktivOxigen tablets as well.

Please click on the Tonsil Stones link in the left navigation bar on this site and read the articles there. Doing that will give you some excellent background information regarding your condition. Then, use the links in those articles or just go to the TheraBreath order page:

http://www.therabreath.com/category.asp?
CAT=0&AffID=1108

Use the Q-tips and TheraBreath products for a month or two and see what kind of results you get. If you're not happy with the result at the end of that time, then, and only then, you'll be ready to make an appointment with an ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist) about having your tonsils removed.

Please post back to let us know your thoughts and how you're doing. Additional questions are always welcome.

Good luck, lena47.

Best regards,
Gary Bucher

I created this Web site in August 2006 to help others avoid the consequences of bad breath and other oral hygiene problems.

Thank you one and all for helping it become the success it is today.

And a big thank you, as well, to the "SBI!" software that made it possible.

If this site has helped you, I'd like to hear about it.
