If you're looking for the best bad breath product, I may be able to help you. I'm certainly willing to try, but we have to get a couple of things straight first. Here are my rules:
So, first things first. Let's get started on the oral hygiene routine you'll need to follow in order to eliminate bad breath.
The first step is to brush your teeth. Sounds simple enough, right?
Maybe... But I'm not talking about a once-in-the-morning, done-in-20-seconds event here. I'm talking about a thorough brushing of the tops, inside edges, and outside edges. Use proper up and down strokes on the outside, and brush the gums, too, not just the teeth.
Make sure you're using a soft brush and brush your tongue as well as the roof of your mouth. Repeat the brushing at bedtime or after you've finished eating and drinking for the day. And if you seriously want to eliminate bad breath, you'll keep a toothbrush and toothpaste at work, or carry them with you, and brush after your mid-day meal.
Make sure your toothpaste does not contain the ingredient, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS). SLS provides no real oral health benefits and will do more to promote bad breath than to prevent it.
Toothpastes with SLS will give you a dry mouth. When your mouth is dry, conditions are ripe for bad breath. In other words, your results are likely to be exactly the opposite of what you'd expect from a good bad breath product. Look for a good oxygenating toothpaste instead.
Step Two... Include a good flossing in your daily routine. When you floss daily, you:
The third step is to use a tongue scraper to remove excess mucous from your tongue's surface. Do this and you'll eliminate the primary food source for the bacteria that cause bad breath. Next, use the tongue scraper to apply a thin coat of oxygenating toothpaste. Leave the toothpaste on for up to 90 seconds in order to deliver oxygen to the part of the tongue where the bacteria that cause bad breath thrive.
Step Four is to rinse your mouth, but you need to be aware of a couple of things. Using an alcohol-based mouthwash will kill some germs and freshen your breath for a brief period, but ultimately it will cause dry mouth. In the long run, your breath will be worse.
Now, you could use an alcohol-free oral rinse, but unless it's an oxygenating mouthwash, a highly-recommended bad breath product, you'll receive very little benefit and very low value for what you spend.
Don't forget to drink lots of water, 8 glasses a day minimum. You'll wash food particles and excess mucous from your mouth and avoid dry mouth.
Okay, that's the oral hygiene routine you should be using. Here is the bad breath product line I use and why I recommend it to you.
